I ran with my run club tonight and my legs do NOT feel good. It was a lovely run though, as it truly felt like spring outside. Running past the Washington Monument and the Capitol at night feels magical every time. With the lights shining on them, it makes you feel like you are in a movie.
Now, I lay and sip on my Sleepytime Tea. More than ever, I am focusing on post-run recovery. When I first started running, I did not put a lot of thought into recovery. After my runs, I would hop in the shower and pretty much call it a day. Now, I make sure to focus on hydration, rest, and some general stretching. Even beyond what you do after your run, it is important to prioritize sleep and nutrition as well (sounds like simple things, but always important to remind yourself). I never prioritized sleep too much, especially through college, but I realized what a difference it makes to get an appropriate amount of sleep. Thus, why I am sipping on my Sleepytime Tea and getting prepped for bed. With all that being said, it is important to get out there and run. However, take the time to take care of yourself and your body too.
